To Set The Captives Free (P.E.A.C.E. Promise)

•March 4, 2012 • Leave a Comment

Ok. So we reopened the studio to support the cause of our good friends at P.E.A.C.E. Promise. It was a genuine honor to say “yes” to help in a very small way. Who are these people? To quote their site:

“We are a committed group of people called by God to help in the fight against human trafficking. Not special people at all. We’re the people down the street from you. Living around the corner. People like those you might see in the grocery store. Or sitting nearby in a pew on Sunday morning in church. Ordinary people.

We believe this fight, at the most basic level, is about bringing the Light of God into the darkness of human trafficking. This horror exists where God is not invited to rule and reign.”

I know. There are many important causes worthy of our attention and it’s easy to be overwhelmed by all of the needs. Even so, I implore you to do something simple, but hard. Begin to truly look at the reality of modern day human trafficking and slavery. Quoting again from their site:

“There are more slaves in the world today than at any other time in history. The problem is comprehensive. It is global. And it is OUR problem. We live in a generation where there are 27 million slaves. There are 7 BILLION people in the world. It is the deception of all deceptions that we cannot eradicate slavery. We outnumber the slave keepers and slave traders millions to one.”

We love the people of P.E.A.C.E. Promise, their sister organization ChangePurse, and the other ministries and organizations they partner with to stop the trafficking, enslavement and unspeakable abuse of children and young adults around the world.

Will you take a moment to learn more about how you can become involved by visiting their web sites? Please pray for them and consider how you, too, may take a stand.

Due to shifting priorities, we’re no longer accepting new projects at this time. It has been a joy to partner with those we’ve worked with over the years!

Since August 2009, two of Cheryl Hopkins’ songs have been listed on SoakingWithAPurpose.com.

Paraphrasing an excerpt, the site’s purpose is to assist people with a new way to approach meditating on the Word of God, practicing the awareness of His presence, and sensing His leading and “gentle whisper”.

Visit to Josiah and Bethany Children’s Home in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico

For the third time in four years, several families from a local church in Pennsylvania, USA visited Josiah and Bethany Children’s Home in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. We tried to be “low-maintenance” to the staff yet complete some of their priority projects while we were there. We were privileged to visit one of the local colonias to provide food, clothing and toys for the children. We also assisted with some much-needed renovations to another local church. All of the children (and adults!) are precious to us. Learn more about sponsoring a child today.
